ATLANTA, Ga. – Michigan Tech jumped up to No. 8 and Wayne State dropped to No. 14 in the latest USA Today Sports Top 25 Division II Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Poll.
Michigan Tech (22-1, 18-1 GLIAC) sophomore guard Morgan Anderson paced Tech to its 12th and 13th consecutive wins last week and the Huskies clinched the program's 13th GLIAC title. Anderson notched 11 points and two assists in an 88-57 victory over Hillsdale Thursday. She then scored a career-high 21 points in MTU's 53-42 win over Saginaw Valley State Saturday. Anderson hit 6-of-12 3-pointers on the week as the Huskies took a two-game lead on Wayne State with three games to play.
Wayne State's (20-3, 16-3 GLIAC) junior guard Brittany Streetman tied for team-high scoring honors with 13 points against Lake Erie which included 3-for-4 from beyond the arc in a 89-65 victory over the Storm on Thursday. The Warriors fell to Ashland 80-74 as the Eagles swept the season series with Wayne State to remain in the divisional hunt.
Ashland (18-7, 14-5 GLIAC) and Grand Valley State (16-7, 13-6 GLIAC) are receiving votes in this week's poll.
The USA TODAY Sports Division II Top 25 women's basketball poll, with first place votes to the right, total points based on 25 points for first place through one point for 25th.
