ALLENDALE, Mich. -- Grand Valley State Director of Athletics, Keri Becker, announced today that Jordan Keur will be the eighth head coach in the 57-year history of the Laker baseball program. Keur most recently spent the last two years as the assistant coach/recruiting coordinator at Western Michigan. Keur was hired as an assistant coach at WMU in 2021 and took on the additional responsibility of being recruiting coordinator in the summer of 2022.

"We had incredible interest and a talented pool of candidates that applied for the position of head baseball coach," said Becker. "However, it became evident during the process that Jordan rose to the top of that list with his passion, coaching approach, and the ability to build relationships. The student-athlete experience at Grand Valley State is something we take seriously, and Jordan demonstrated the ability to enhance that experience," added Becker.

Keur played a key role in the Broncos going 11-5 to end the 2023 regular season and advancing to the Mid-American Conference Tournament for the first time since 2017. All-MAC performers Cade Sullivan and Jimmy Allen led the WMU offense under the direction of Keur. In his first season the Broncos set a single-season program record with 131 doubles. Dylan Nevar was named the MAC Freshman of the Year and a Freshman All-American, while Connor Charping earned his second straight First Team All-MAC selection. Cade Sullivan was picked for both the All-MAC Second Team and the All-MAC Defensive Team. Nevar and Sullivan became the first two Bronco teammates to hit double-digit homers in the same season since 2001.

"First and foremost, I'd like to thank Keri Becker, Doug Lipinski, and the rest of the committee for this incredible opportunity," said Keur. "My wife and I could not be more excited to join the Laker family. We are excited to begin our journey with Grand Valley State Baseball and build upon the program's rich history. I am looking forward to working with our student-athletes in pursuit of excellence both on and off the field," added Keur.

Prior to joining the Broncos, Keur was the head coach at Lansing Community College for three years. He guided the Stars to a 47-3 record and berth in the NJCAA Region XII Baseball Championship Series after finishing the season ranked No. 1 in the nation in 2021. His first LCC squad in 2019 went 36-9 and ranked seventh nationally among NJCAA Division II teams. His teams that played full seasons in 2019 and 2021 own the top two winning percentages in school history. Keur was voted conference coach of the year in both 2019 and 2021, while also collecting regional coach of the year honors in 2021.

Prior to his time at LCC, he spent four seasons at Michigan State, where he helped the Spartans set a school record for stolen bases in 2018 (100), a mark which led the Big Ten and ranked 10th nationally. Keur spent one season as an assistant at Eastern Michigan before moving to Michigan State.

As a player, Keur started 150 games for Michigan State and was a four-year letterwinner. Jordan was a .315 career hitter who guided the Spartans to an overall record of 140-80 during his career. He was an All-Big Ten honoree as a junior as he led MSU to an NCAA Regional berth, while leading the team in batting (.353), hits (89) and multi-hit games (31). In addition, Michigan State captured the 2011 Big 10 Championship when Keur was a sophomore.

A native of Hudsonville, Keur graduated from Michigan State with a degree in advertising and played professionally for the Washington Wild Things in the independent Frontier League.
Keur and his wife, Jamie, are the proud parents of son, Hayden.
