Ferris State Ranked 25th in NABC Division II Rankings, LSSU Receiving Votes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Ferris State Bulldogs are ranked 25th in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Rankings. FSU is the lone Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference school to appear the poll, while Lake Superior State is currently receiving 12 votes.

Ferris State is off to a quick start at 6-0 in the conference and 10-2 overall after road victories over Findlay (79-73) and Wayne State (85-69). The Bulldogs are tied with Saginaw Valley for the best GLIAC record at 6-0 in the North.

West Liberty continues to hold the top spot in the NABC/Division II rankings and for the first time this season, was a unanimous top pick in the poll following the loss by No. 2-ranked Florida Southern on Saturday.

West Liberty downed Concord on the road Saturday to retain the No. 1 position in the poll and picked up the remaining first place votes from Florida Southern after the Moccasins' loss later that day to Barry.

As a result, Colorado-Colorado Springs, Tarleton State and Lincoln Memorial all moved up one spot in the new poll, while Indianapolis jumped over its Great Lakes Valley Conference rival Bellarmine into the fifth spot.

The top five teams, along with Colorado School of Mines, St. Edward's and Lander, are the last eight unbeaten teams at the NCAA Division II level.

Bellarmine remained at No. 6 this week, while Florida Southern fell back five spots to seven, immediately ahead Barry.  Colorado School of Mines and Metropolitan State held onto the final two places among the top 10 this week.

Due to a loss by last week's eighth-ranked team, Central Missouri, the next four teams in the poll all moved up a spot.  California Baptist begins the second ten at No. 11, while Augustana, Minnesota State-Moorhead and Azusa Pacific landed in the next three spots.  St. Edward's moved up two spots to 15th after winning a pair of tight contests last week.

Minnesota State held firm in the No. 16 spot this week, followed by Central Missouri, BYU-Hawaii, Angelo State and Indiana (Pa.).

This week's final five teams are Lewis, Lander, UNC Pembroke, Mount Olive and Ferris State.  UNC Pembroke and Ferris State are making their first appearance in the rankings this season.

The next poll will be released Jan. 13.
