Saginaw Valley Enters Rankings at No. 20, Lake Superior No. 24 in NABC Division II Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. - The Saginaw Valley State University men's basketball team is ranked No. 20 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Rankings. Lake Superior State dropped back one spot in this week's rankings to No. 24, while Ferris State is the first team outside of the Top 25 in the receiving votes category.

SVSU sophomore forward C.J. Turnage had a solid week in leading the Cardinals to a 3-0 record last week, moving into sole possession of first place in the GLIAC as Saginaw Valley (19-4, 15-2 GLIAC) defeated Hillsdale (59-56), #21 LSSU (56-52) and Northwood (76-72). Turnage averaged 15.0 ppg, 5.0 rpg and had 2.3 apg while shooting 72.0 percent from the floor, including going a perfect 7-of-7 as part of 18 points in Saturday's victory at Northwood. 

No. 24 Lake Superior State (19-4, 14-3 GLIAC) senior guard Alex Williams averaged 14.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game during LSSU's 2-1 week in wins over Northwood (76-72) and Hillsdale (82-66) while dropping a close one to Saginaw Valley (56-52). Williams Shot 50 percent from the field (16-of-32) for the week, which included 24 points on 9-of-14 shooting in the win over Hillsdale in just 27 minutes.

Ferris State (18-5, 14-3 GLIAC) fell from the rankings but are the first team outside this week's Top 25. The Bulldogs pulled out an OT win over Grand Valley State 96-85 to start the week before falling to both Michigan Tech (68-60) and Northern Michigan (73-71) at home.

The next poll will be released Feb. 17.
