GLIAC Champs Lake Superior State No. 17 in Latest NABC Division II Top 25 Poll

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Lake Superior State University men's basketball team moved up two more spots to No. 17 in the latest National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Rankings released Tuesday (Feb. 24).

Lake Superior State (23-4, 18-3 GLIAC) registered a 74-72 victory over Michigan Tech on Saturday at Bud Cooper Gymnasium and cut down the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) regular-season championship nets outright for the second straight season. The win, coupled with Ferris State's 78-72 victory over Saginaw Valley State, secured the Lakers' fifth GLIAC regular-season title. Prior to last year's 2013-14 title, LSSU seized season crowns during the 1995-96, 1977-78 and 1975-76 campaigns.

LSSU is 23-4 overall and 18-3 in the GLIAC heading into its regular-season finale Thursday at Northwood. The Lakers will host a GLIAC Tournament quarterfinal game on Wednesday, March 4, and are scheduled to host the semifinal and final rounds March 7-8 as long as they win the quarterfinal contest.

The next poll will be released March 3.
