GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the 14th and final weekly awards of the swimming and diving season. Grand Valley State Junior Chris Kelly was awarded GLIAC Men's Athlete of the week, while teammate Mikayla Karasekr earned GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week.
MALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Chris Kelly- Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State Junior Chris Kelly finished first on the 3-meter board and third on the 1-meter board at the 2020 GVSU Diving Invitational. In addition, Kelly hit two NCAA Championship qualifying marks during the event. He recorded a score of 485.30 on the 3-meter board en route to a first-place finish, followed by a 441.85 score on the 1-meter board. Kelly, who is a two-time All-American, will next compete for the Lakers at the 2020 GLIAC Championships.
FEMALE ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Mikayla Karasekr - Grand Valley St.
Grand Valley State senior Mikayla Karasek tallied first-place honors and hit two NCAA Championship qualifying marks at the 2020 GVSU Diving Invitational. Karasek recorded a score of 489.20 on the 1-meter board, followed by a score of 478.35 on the 3-meter board. Karasek, a six-time All-American, will next be in action at the 2020 GLIAC Championships.
