As announced by the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) on Thursday (March 12) morning, Ashland University assistant coach Stephanie Gehlhausen is the 2019-20 WBCA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year.

Gehlhausen is in her second season as the Eagles' assistant coach, and during that time, Ashland has gone 60-3 (including 7-0 with Gehlhausen as acting head coach), won two Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament championships and a GLIAC regular-season title, and made the NCAA Division II postseason twice. She is the Eagles' recruiting coordinator, has implemented the team's new defense, is the team's guard coach and academic coach, and oversees the transition for all incoming freshmen.

This is the Ashland women's basketball program's second WBCA Division II Assistant Coach of the Year honor, as current head coach Kari Pickens was honored in 2016-17.

Prior to come to Ashland, Gehlhausen spent the 2016-17 and 2017-18 seasons as an assistant at Western State (Colo.), following four seasons coaching at her alma mater, Southern Indiana. A college basketball player at both USI (2009-11) and the University of Alabama in Huntsville (2006-09), Gehlhausen played in 105 career games, and was voted team captain of the Screaming Eagles.
