GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the Week 9 GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2019 season. Grand Valley State senior Carly Shisler was named Offensive Player of the Week, while GVSU freshman goaltender Payton Neil was named Defensive Player of the Week.
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Carly Shisler - Grand Valley State
Grand Valley State senior midfielder Carly Shisler (Naperville, Ill.) earned her second GLIAC Player of the Week Award after totaling eight goals and three assists during last week's victories over Davenport and Concordia St. Paul. She compiled 7-2--9 against CSP, scoring seven goals on 11 shots. For the week, she also totaled 15 shots, nine ground balls, five caused turnovers and six draw controls.
DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Payton Neil - Grand Valley State
Freshman goaltender Payton Neil (Grand Rapids, Mich.) also picked up her second player of the week award. She played 82:27 in net over two games, giving up only seven goals against. She totaled 14 saves as GVSU beat Davenport, 18-4, and Concordia St. Paul, 17-4.
