Ferris State's Tarantinov Claims GLIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week Honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its eighth men's tennis weekly awards of the 2018 campaign. Ferris State senior Daniil Tarantinov has been named GLIAC Men's Tennis Athlete of the Week.


ATHLETE OF THE WEEK - Daniil Tarantinov, Ferris State

Ferris State senior Daniil Tarantinov helped lead the 23rd-ranked Bulldogs to two big GLIAC victories last week as FSU topped rivals Northwood and Grand Valley State by identical 7-2 scores. Tarantinov went a perfect 4-0 on the week as he teamed up with Austin Debruyne for doubles wins both days at the second flight along with also going 2-0 in singles action at the number three flight in the FSU lineup. Tarantinov was a straight-set singles winner in Thursday's road win over the Timberwolves before pulling out a three-set triumph with a rally in the final two sets versus GVSU. His play helped FSU improve to 14-2 overall and stay atop the GLIAC with a perfect 4-0 mark while stretching FSU's win streak to 11-straight victories. Ferris State also stayed unbeaten at 7-0 in home matches at the FSU Racquet and Fitness Center with Saturday's win over the Lakers.
