FSU's Idoni and WSU's George honored as GLIAC Women's Basketball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards following Week 12 of the women's basketball season. Ferris State junior forward Chloe Idoni was selected GLIAC North Division Player of the Week, while Wayne State senior forward Grace George was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week. 


NORTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chloe Idoni - Ferris State

Ferris State University junior Chloe Idoni (Fenton, Mich.) had a big week for the Bulldogs in three games this past week, averaging a team-leading 18 points and 7.3 rebounds per game. Idoni totaled 54 points, 22 rebounds, 10 steals, four assists and three blocks as FSU won two of three contests. She had 19 points,10 boards and three steals in Monday's impressive 88-63 win over Northwood before coming back with 18 points, nine boards, four steals and three blocks in Thursday's close setback at Parkside. She finished the week with 17 points, three steals, two assists and three rebounds on Saturday in a 84-70 win at Purdue Northwest, which moved FSU back into a second-place tie atop the GLIAC. For the week, she also shot 67% from the floor and went 14-of-15 (93.3%) at the free throw line.


SOUTH DIVISION PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Grace George - Wayne State

Grace George (DeWitt, Mich.) led the Warriors to a 2-1 record in three U.P. games in five days, with the lone setback coming in overtime at MTU on Saturday. She scored in double digits all three contests, including a game-high 24 vs. the Huskies, which included the game-tying basket late in regulation. For the week, she shot 58 percent (19-of-33) from the floor, including 50 percent (7-of-14) from beyond the arc. George also contributed 17 rebounds, six assists (to three turnovers) and two steals. George leads the GLIAC in three-point field goal percentage (47.7%), ranks fourth in free throw percentage (88.5) and is eighth in points/40 min at 19.4.
