GVSU's Chada and Graber receive athlete of the week honors in cross country

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after Week 5 of the 2022 cross country season. Grand Valley State senior Tanner Chada was named GLIAC Men's Athlete of the Week while Grand Valley State junior Natalie Graber earned GLIAC Women's Athlete of the Week honors.


MEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Tanner Chada, Grand Valley State

Senior Tanner Chada has been selected GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week for a second time this season after clocking a personal-best 8k time of 23:18.1 earning him a first-place finish in the Live in Lou XC Classic this weekend (Oct.1st). The Grand Valley State men brought home a first place finish on the day scoring a total of 104 points, outscoring a number of NCAA Division I programs by 40+ points. Chada has now earned himself two first-place finishes on the year, previously placing first at the Spartan Invitational on Sept. 16. 

WOMEN'S ATHLETE OF THE WEEK: Natalie Graber, Grand Valley State

Junior Natalie Graber has been selected GLIAC Cross Country Athlete of the Week for a second time this season after earning a sixth-place finish with a new personal-best 5k time of 16:52.5 at the Live in Lou XC Classic helping Grand Valley State place third overall. GVSU finished with five Lakers in the Top 50 scoring a total of 132 points on the day, falling shortly behind two Division I programs; Furman (1st) and West Virginia (2nd). Graber has now earned two Top 10 finishes in the 2022 cross country season.
