Eagles move up one spot in WBCA Poll, Lakers remain ninth

LILBURN, Ga. - The Ashland women's basketball team, 14-1 and winners of eight straight games, moved up one spot to sixth place in this weeks Women's Basketball Coaches Association Top 25 Poll. Grand Valley State (15-1), meanwhile, remained ninth.

Last week, Ashland picked up Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference victories at Parkside, 108-69, and at Purdue Northwest, 112-68. The Eagles play host to Saginaw Valley State and Northwood this week. They rank second nationally in scoring offense, averaging 93.1 points per game.

GVSU, which has won 13 in a row, claimed wins at home, beating Saginaw Valley State, 64-46, and Northwood, 67-51. The Lakers travel to Michigan Tech and Northern Michigan this week. They rank seventh nationally in scoring defense, allowing only 52.8 points per game, and 14th in rebound margin at +9.8 rebounds per game.
