Lakers hold No. 1 Drury to a season-low, but fall to Panthers in regional final

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – Grand Valley State's impressive women's basketball season came to an end Monday night with a 51-44 loss to No. 1-ranked Drury in the championship game of the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional.

Drury (34-0) dominated the third quarter, 21-11, to overtake the Lakers (29-4), who led 25-22 at halftime. Drury's 55 points was a season low as defensive-minded GVSU held the Panthers to 19-of-66 from the field (.288) and 3-for-22 from behind the arc (.136).

Jenn DeBoer led GVSU with 16 points, and Cassidy Boensch and Maddie Dailey scored nine each. Lauren Holmes led Drury with 15 points, and Hailey Diestelkamp added 13.
