GLIAC Men's Soccer Players of the Week - Week 1

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards after the first weekend of competition to begin the 2015 men's soccer season. Saginaw Valley State's Tyler Channell and Aleksandar Isaevski earned the GLIAC Player of the Week sweep for the Cardinals after a pair of impressive road victories to open the new year under first-year head coach Andy Wagstaff.

Highlights: Channell had a huge weekend in leading the No. 18 Cardinals to a pair of opening regional victories at Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside. Channell assisted on all three goals in the team's 3-0 victory over the Flyers on Friday before adding another two in the team's 4-1 victory over the Rangers on Sunday.

Highlights: Isaevski had a big weekend in helping lead the Cards to a 2-0 record on the road against regional opponents Lewis and Wisconsin-Parkside. Isaevski was instrumental defensively in the team's 3-0 shutout over the Flyers on Friday. In the 4-1 win over the Rangers on Sunday, he was solid defensively and added a goal on his only shot of the weekend and an assist off a corner kick. The SVSU defense allowed just one goal on the week and five shots on goal.
