BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- Ferris State University junior setter Stephanie Sikorski (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester) has received further acclaim this week as she was chosen today as the Sports Imports/American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) NCAA Division II National Player of the Week.

Sikorski becomes the third Bulldog ever to earn the national player of the week honor and the second this season, joining senior teammate Megan Vander Meer, who was previously honored in September with the same award.

Sikorski earned recognition after leading the nationally third-ranked Bulldogs to an impressive unbeaten weekend at the Midwest Region Crossover in Aurora, Ill.

The junior standout claimed both both all-tournament team honors at the regional event and was also chosen as this week's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) North Division Player of the Week after leading FSU to three consecutive wins.

The Bulldog setter tallied 105 assists in the three outings while averaging 10.50 assists per set as FSU beat McKendree (Ill.), Ohio Valley and eighth-ranked Rockhurst (Mo.) all in decisive fashion. Sikorski also added 19 digs, 10 kills, two blocks and an ace while playing only 10 sets on the weekend. She posted a .423 attack percentage.

The three-year starter notched 46 assists in the top 10 showdown win over Rockhurst on Saturday and had 41 versus McKendree in the Bulldogs' Friday opener at the event.

The three wins over the weeekend lifted FSU to 20-1 overall this campaign and the Bulldogs are currently a league-leading 9-0 in the GLIAC to date this season.

Mizuno served as the title sponsor for the regional volleyball event which pitted 16 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) volleyball teams, 16 institutions representing the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and, for the first time in 2015, four programs from the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).

The two-day tournament featured 54 matches conducted on nine courts at one of the top volleyball facilities in the country. The event, designed to increase competition between teams from the two leagues in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region, had previously been held in Indianapolis, Ind. and Lansing, Mich.

Ferris State returns home to host Findlay and Hillsdale this Friday and Saturday, Oct. 23-24, with both matches starting at 5 p.m. (ET) inside the Ewigleben Sports Arena. Presently, the two teams are listed atop the GLIAC South Division standings as Findlay is 8-1 in the GLIAC and Hillsdale 7-2 heading into this weekend's action.
