GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week - Week 9

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly volleyball awards following Week 9. Northern Michigan sophomore middle hitter Madison Whitehead captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, while Findlay senior middle blocker Julie Lyons collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.

Northern Michigan Middle Hitter So.

Highlights: Whitehead guided Northern Michigan to an upset win of No. 1 Ferris State, which was previously unbeaten in the GLIAC, with a career-high 26 kills and posted a .429 hitting percentage in that contest. For the weekend, Whitehead averaged 3.80 kills per set and a .300 hitting percentage, while also recording 10 total blocks on the weekend.

South Division
Julie Lyons Findlay Middle Blocker Sr.

Highlights: Lyons led the Oilers to a pair of wins at home over the weekend by accumulating 21 kills. Lyons also hit .679 over the weekend and added a pair of blocks. She recorded 10 kills and hit .750 in the Oilers 3-0 win over Tiffin on Friday and then came back with 11 kills while hitting .625 in Findlay's sweep of Ohio Dominican. The Dover, Ohio native leads the GLIAC with a .411 hitting percentage.
