GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week - Week 6

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly volleyball awards following Week 6 of the season. Northern Michigan sophomore middle hitter Madison Whitehead captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, while Findlay senior middle blocker Julie Lyons collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.

Highlights: Lyons led the Oilers to a pair of wins over the weekend with 19 kills, six blocks and three digs. Lyons also hit .459 in the two matches. The Dover, Ohio native began the weekend with 12 kills and two blocks in the Oilers 3-1 win over #25 Saginaw Valley State. She then capped the weekend with seven kills and four blocks in the Oilers 3-0 victory against Wayne State. Lyons leads the GLIAC in hitting percentage at .437 and ranks seventh in blocks with 58.

North Division
Madison Whitehead Northern Michigan Middle Hitter So.

Highlights: Whitehead paced a Wildcat team that went 2-0 on the weekend with 4.00 kills per set and a .370 hitting percentage. She also recorded four blocks. Against Walsh, she posted a season-best 16 kills, one shy of her career high. Whitehead ranks third in GLIAC matches with a .395 hitting percentage and sixth with 3.33 kills per set.
