PNW's Michko and SVSU's Depew earn GLIAC weekly softball awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly softball awards following week 11 of the 2024 season. Purdue Northwest graduate designated hitter Selena Michko was recognized as GLIAC Player of the Week, while Saginaw Valley State senior right-hander Emily Depew was selected as pitcher of the week.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Selena Michko, Purdue Northwest

Graduate student Selena Michko ended the regular season with an incredible week at the plate for the Pride. She ended with an amazing .600 batting average, six hits, one double, two home runs, five RBIs, and two walks. She also ended with a remarkable 1.300 slugging percentage and .733 on base percentage while having a hit and reaching base in every game this past week. She currently leads the GLIAC with ten homeruns and fourth in the GLIAC in RBIs with 39.


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Emily Depew, Saginaw Valley State

Saginaw Valley State senior Emily Depew allowed just four hits in three appearances as she led the Cardinals to three wins inside the circle. Depew threw her fourth career no-hitter in game one of the doubleheader versus Ferris State to help SVSU sweep the Bulldogs and clinch a share of the GLIAC Regular Season Championship. She currently leads the GLIAC with 18 wins and 161 strikeouts.
