WSU's Forman, PNW's Paliska awarded GLIAC weekly softball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly softball awards following week five of the 2024 season. Wayne State freshman outfielder/catcher Logan Forman was named player of the week, while Purdue Northwest senior right-hander Gabby Paliska received pitcher of the week honors.

PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Logan Forman, Wayne State

Freshman Logan Forman started all eight games last week helping the Warriors to a 4-4 mark. She batted .435 (10-for-23) with a .696 slugging percentage (16 total bases) including four extra-base hits (2 2B, 2 3B) and a team-leading seven RBI. Forman walked twice for a .444 on-base percentage, while also contributing two sac flies.  She only struck out once in 27 plate appearances.  Forman played flawless defense in both right field and behind the plate in 17 chances. She currently leads the squad with four multiple-RBI games and is tied for the team lead with six multiple-hit affairs. Over her last nine appearances, Forman is hitting .444 (12-for-27) with eight RBI.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Gabby Paliska, Purdue Northwest

Senior Gabby Paliska had an incredible and record setting week on the mound for the Pride this past week in Florida. She finished with a 2-0 record, 10 strikeouts, 1.00 ERA, and only gave up four hits. But the highlight was against Bentley where she pitched a 10-inning perfect game 1-0 win for Purdue Northwest. She gave up no hits, no runs, no walks, no errors, and no batters hit by pitch. All of this in the Florida heat and goes down in a record performance for PNW.
