GVSU's Hollister and Swierkos receive GLIAC softball weekly honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly softball awards following week six of the 2024 season.  Grand Valley State swept the awards, with freshman outfielder Hannah Hollister earning player of the week honors and freshman right-hander Kylie Swierkos receiving pitcher of the week recognition.


PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Hollister, Grand Valley State

Hannah Hollister has been named the GLIAC Player of the Week for the first time this season. Hollister batted .500 in the doubleheader wins at Purdue Northwest. She notched two hits and scored two runs, while also driving home one run. Hollisters stole four bases during the two games and is now a perfect 21-21 on stolen base attempts this season. Hollister ranks second on the team with a .418 batting average with 28 hits, and leads the team with 28 runs scored


PITCHER OF THE WEEK - Kylie Swierkos, Grand Valley State

Kylie Swierkos has been named the GLIAC Pitcher of the Week for the first time in her career. Swierkos tossed a complete game shutout in a 4-0 win at Purdue Northwest. She struck out two batters and only allowed four hits and zero walks. Swierkos improved to 4-1 in the circle with four complete games this season. She has posted an ERA of 0.82 which ranks first in the GLIAC and has struck out a total of 18 batters in 34 innings pitched.
