GLIAC recognizes men's and women's swimmers and divers of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its weekly awards of the 2022-23 swimming & diving season. Wayne State men's swimmer Trevor Jones and women's diver Mikaela Senkus were honored as well as Grand Valley State women's swimmer Lucy Hedley and men's diver Wrigley Fields.


MEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Trevor Jones, Wayne State

Trevor Jones won a pair of events on Saturday against Saginaw Valley State, including the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:40.40 and the 200 butterfly thanks to a mark of 1:53.73.


WOMEN'S SWIMMER OF THE WEEK: Lucy Hedley, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State freshman Lucy Hedley was named the GLIAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for the fifth time this season. Hedley won three individual events and was a member of the 400 free relay that finished first versus GLIAC foe Davenport. Lucy touched the wall first in the 50 free (24.32), 100 free (52.71), and 200 free (1:52.58), while swimming the lead leg of the 400 free relay that finished in 3:34.22.

MEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Wrigley Fields, Grand Valley State

Grand Valley State senior Wrigley Fields has been named the GLIAC Men’s Diver the Week. Fields finished first on both the 1-meter (303.82) and 3-meter (258.90) boards versus league foe Davenport. Fields’ score on the 1-meter board hit the NCAA qualifying standard.


WOMEN'S DIVER OF THE WEEK: Mikaela Senkus, Wayne State

Saturday against SVSU, Mikaela Senkus was victorious in both the 1 meter dive (461.90) and the 3 meter dive, where she broke the pool record with a score of 313.70. This honor marks the fourth GLIAC Women's Diver of the Week this season alone for Senkus and fifth of her career.
