WSU's Wilson, FSU's Huntey Earn GLIAC Player of the Week Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly women's basketball awards after divisional play during the final week of January. Ferris State senior forward Alexis Huntey captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, while Wayne State sophomore guard Shannon Wilson collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.

Alexis Huntey Ferris State Forward Sr.

Highlights: Ferris State University senior forward Alexis Huntey had a huge week for the Bulldogs in a pair of GLIAC North Division tilts. For the week, she tallied 18.5 points and 15.5 rebounds an outing with 37 total points, 31 rebounds, six assists and two steals. Huntey netted 17 points and 12 boards in Thursday's tight road setback at Hillsdale. She then came back with a monster performance on Saturday as FSU stunned division leader Saginaw Valley State 57-55 on a buzzer beater. In the game versus SVSU, Huntey totaled a game-high 20 points, 19 rebounds, five assists and two steals. She shot 52% from the floor for the week and hit five-of-13 (38.5%) three's, including a four-of-eight showing beyond the arc in Saturday's victory. Her 19 rebounds represented a career-best.

South Division
Shannon Wilson Wayne State Guard So.

Highlights: After being held to just 11 points in Thursday's win over Malone, Wayne State sophomore guard Shannon Wilson erupted for a career-high 29 points in the Saturday victory at Walsh. Wilson was 5-of-6 from beyond the arc against the Cavaliers and 4-for-4 on two-point field goals. She totaled 12 rebounds, eight assists, four steals and one block as WSU went 2-0 last week.
