Wayne State's Shareta Brown Signs With Alvik In Sweden

DETROIT -- Former Warrior All-American Shareta Brown (Pontiac, Mich. / Grand Blanc) signed a professional contract with Alvik (Bromma, Sweden) in the top tier of the Swedish Basketball League.  It concludes an eventful month for Brown who graduated from Wayne State University on Dec. 12th with a degree in criminal justice.

Alvik compiled a 6-10 record during the first half of the 2015-16 season and begins the second half portion of its schedule on Jan. 13 vs. Telge.  Alvik will play 11 games between Jan. 13 and March 23.

As a senior, Brown was voted the WSU Female Student-Athlete of the Year and was named the 2015 DII Woman of the Year nominee for basketball as announced by Executive Director Chris Voelz of THE Collegiate Women Sports Awards (CWSA) presented by Honda.

She earned the WBCA Division II Player of the Year award as well as First Team All-America accolades and was named the Women's Division II Basketball Bulletin Player of the Year along with First Team All-America honors.  Brown was selected as the Daktronics National Player of the Year in voting conducted by the Division II school and conference SIDs as well as First Team All-American, while also being voted the Daktronics Midwest Region Player of the Year. Brown was named to the Daktronics All-Midwest Region First Team and was voted GLIAC Player of the Year (just the second WSU player in program history joining Lori Januszkiewicz in 1983-84).  She earned First Team All-GLIAC and GLIAC All-Defensive Team honors while being named to the GLIAC All-Academic Team.

Brown concluded her two-year WSU career first in scoring average (21.1), rebounds (769), field goal percentage (63.9%) and rebounding average (13.0 rpg), second in free throws made (342), third in both points (1,245) and free throws attempted (433), fifth in free throw percentage (79.0 / 342-433), eighth in blocked shots average (0.8 bpg), 11th in both field goals made (437) and steals average (2.2 spg), 12th in both blocked shots (46) and three-point field goal percentage (34.1 / 29-85; min. 25 made), 17th in minutes per game (29.7), 20th in assists average (2.5 apg), 23rd in steals (132), 25th in assists (149), tied-for-35th in three-pointers made (29), 41st in minutes played (1,753), and tied-for-70th in games played (59).
