Michigan Tech's Anderson, ODU's Scherpenberg Collect GLIAC Awards

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced weekly women's basketball awards following the first week of the GLIAC schedule. Michigan Tech junior guard Morgan Anderson captured GLIAC North Division Player of the Week honors, while Ohio Dominican senior forward Melissa Scherpenberg collected GLIAC South Division Player of the Week accolades.

North Division
Morgan Anderson Michigan Tech Guard Jr.

Highlights: Anderson averaged 22.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists in a pair of GLIAC wins last week. She scored a career-high 26 points on Thursday, tying a school record with eight 3-pointers in the contest. The Huskies earned a pair of home victories over Malone (80-55) and Walsh (70-64) to begin league play. Anderson connected on 12 three-point field goals last week shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc.

South Division
Melissa Scherpenberg Ohio Dominican Forward Sr.

Highlights: Scherpenberg recorded two more double-doubles to help ODU to its first 2-0 start in GLIAC play in school history. Scherpenberg averaged 13.5 ppg, 11.5 rpg, 2.0 spg and 1.5 bpg in road wins at SVSU (63-55) and Hillsdale (91-62). She has registered a double-double in six of ODU's seven games and leads the GLIAC with 11.1 rpg, is third in field goals made with 45, third in steals (20), fourth in blocks (10) and fifth in FG% (59.2). Scherpenberg helped anchor a defense that held SVSU and HC to a combined 30.1% shooting in the two wins.
