INDIANAPOLIS -- Five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball teams appeared in the second 2016 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 24).

The Ashland Eagles sit atop the region rankings in the No. 1 spot after compiling a 26-1 record this season. Four GLVC squads occupy the 2-through-5 positions ahead of No. 6 Ohio Dominican, No. 7 Saginaw Valley and No. 8 Michigan Tech. Grand Valley State sits at No. 9 one spot outside of the eight qualifying positions.

The Midwest Region includes schools from the GLIAC, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC).
