NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Region Rankings
INDIANAPOLIS -- Five Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball teams appeared in the second 2016 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 24).
The Ashland Eagles sit atop the region rankings in the No. 1 spot after compiling a 26-1 record this season. Four GLVC squads occupy the 2-through-5 positions ahead of No. 6 Ohio Dominican, No. 7 Saginaw Valley and No. 8 Michigan Tech. Grand Valley State sits at No. 9 one spot outside of the eight qualifying positions.
The Midwest Region includes schools from the GLIAC, the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) and the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC). The GLVC holds the remaining six regional ranking positions, but the G-MAC will receive an automatic bid into the tournament despite having no teams inside the region rankings.
The 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament Selection Show will take place on Sunday, March 6th at 10 PM on NCAA.com. The Top 8 in each region will qualify for the postseason championships.
