ASHLAND, Ohio -- Game times and ticket information for the 2016 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's and men's basketball semifinal and championship games have been announced. The championship weekend will be played on Saturday (March 5) and Sunday (March 6) at Kates Gymnasium on the campus of Ashland University. 

2016 GLIAC Basketball Tournament Game Times

Saturday, March 5

Session 1 - Women's Tournament - Semifinals

Game 1: No. 1 Ashland 68 def. No. 4 Walsh 59 - BOX SCORE | VIDEO

Notes: Eagles finished game on a 10-0 run to compete 4th quarter comeback. AU's Andi Daugherty recorded 23 points on 8-of- 13 shooting and six rebounds as Ashland went 26-of-34 from the foul line compared to just 7-for-9 for the Cavaliers.

Game 2: No. 6 Grand Valley State 76 def. No. 2 Saginaw Valley 51  - BOX SCORE | VIDEO

Notes: GVSU hit on 11-of-15 shots, including 5-of-7 from beyond the arc in the first quarter to take a commanding 27-9 lead and never looked back. The Lakers shot 50 percent from the field along with 11 triples and received 33 points from the GV bench.

Session 2 - Men's Tournament - Semifinals

Game 3: No. 6 Ferris State 67 def. No. 2 Ashland 52 - BOX SCORE | VIDEO

Notes: After facing a slight three-point deficit, Ferris State outscored Ashland 39-21 in the second holding the Eagles to 24 percent shooting in the process en route to the upset victory on AU's home floor. The Bulldogs outrebounded Ashland by a 42-29 margin and produced 21 bench points. Drew Cushingberry paced a balanced attack from FSU with 14 points, while James Chappell and Quentin Ruff recorded 11 points a piece.

Game 4: No. 8 Walsh 98 def. No. 5 Hillsdale 69 - BOX SCORE | VIDEO

Notes: The Walsh Cavaliers hit 17 three points and shot 62 percent from the field on their way to taking the No. 8 seed all the way to the tournament title game in dominant fashion. Zac Carter led the Cavs with 28 points on 11-of-13 shooting and six assists, while Trey Fletcher added 25 points and 12 rebounds. After Jesse Hardin Jr. only posted three points in the first 20 minutes, the senior exploded and finished with 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting from beyond the arc to tie the GLIAC Tournament record with 15 triples throughout this year's tournament. 

Sunday, March 6

Session 3 - Women's Tournament - Championship

No. 1 Ashland 70 def. No. 6 Grand Valley State 53 - BOX SCORE | VIDEO

Notes: The top-seeded Ashland Eagles jumped out to a 21-7 lead in the early stages of the first quarter and never looked back on their way to their 30th victory of the year and third GLIAC Tournament title in program history. AU connected on 8-of-12 shots in the early stages of the contest to gain momentum early, while GVSU struggled out of the gates going 1-of-10. Ashland outrebounded GV by a 44-28 margin and shot 43.1 percent from the field, while limiting the Lakers to just 29.6 shooting on the afternoon. AU sophomore Andi Daugherty led all scorers with 17 points playing through foul trouble along with 10 rebounds, while McKenzie Miller notched 12 of her own and Laina Snyder pulled down 10 boards. First-year head coach Robyn Fralick and her squad will more than likely host the 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Midwest Regional.

Session 4 - Men's Tournament - Championship

No. 6 Ferris State 76 def. No. 8 Walsh 59 - BOX SCORE | VIDEO

Notes: Ferris State entered the 2016 GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament riding a four-game losing streak. Three games later they are hoisting their second consecutive conference tournament title and third in program history. After another hot start for Walsh to give the Cavaliers an 8-point lead, the Bulldogs played pressure defense on the perimeter and threw Walsh out of rhythm and came back to lead by six at the break. FSU shot 53.3 percent from the field and outrebounded Walsh 39-29. Ferris State used their size to gain an astonishing 42-6 points in the paint advantage, including a 35-4 bench points edge. Coach Andy Bronkema's Bulldogs were extremely balanced on offense with eight players producing at least six points or more with Quentin Ruff leading the squad with 12 points off the bench.
