INDIANAPOLIS -- Four Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) women's basketball teams appeared inside the final 2016 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Rankings released on Wednesday (March 1) prior to the announcement of the The 2016 NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament Selection Show, which will take place on Sunday, March 6th at 10 PM on NCAA.com. The Top 8 in each region will qualify for the postseason championships.

The Ashland Eagles sit atop the region rankings in the No. 1 spot after compiling a 27-1 record this season and advancing in the 2016 GLIAC Women's Basketball Tournament. Four GLVC squads continue to occupy the 2-through-5 positions ahead of No. 6 Saginaw Valley, No. 7 Michigan Tech and No. 8 Ohio Dominican. Michigan Tech and ODU were defeated in the quarterfinal round of the conference tournament on Tuesday (March 1), while Ashland and Saginaw Valley earned victories to advance to the weekend.
