NMU's Weisbrod and GVSU's Miller named GLIAC women's basketball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Northern Michigan sophomore guard Jacy Weisbrod has been honored as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Grand Valley State junior guard Hadley Miller was recognized with GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week accolades following Week 15 of the 2023-24 women's basketball season.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jacy Weisbrod, Northern Michigan

Northern Michigan sophomore Jacy Weisbrod was named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week following two Wildcat road victories in which she averaged 21.5 points/game on 15-25 (60.0%) shooting with a remarkable 11-18 (61.1%) clip from beyond the arc. Against Saginaw Valley State, Weisbrod scored 21 points with five triples and followed it up with 22 more points and six threes at Wayne State. The La Crosse, Wisconsin native is now far-and-away the conference leader in threes, connecting on 70-166 (42.2%). She is 20th in the country in made threes and 13th in threes/game (2.92). She has made at least one in all 24 of her games this season and has connected on 5+ an outstanding six times. Averaging 12.7 points/game, Weisbrod has played a key role in NMU’s current six-game winning streak and the clinching of a home playoff game.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Hadley Miller, Grand Valley State

For the first time in her career, GVSU junior guard Hadley Miller has been named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Miller helped lead the Lakers to two home wins and clinch a share of the regular season conference title. The two-time GLIAC All-Defensive team member recorded 21 points, four rebounds, five steals, and a block over the two games. In the 76-38 win over Ferris State, Miller had three steals and played a key role in shutting down the Bulldog starting backcourt, who combined to shoot 4-21. She followed that up with two more steals and a block in the 100-48 victory against LSSU. Miller also scored 12 points against the Lakers, shooting 55.6% from the field.
