WSU's Tripp and GVSU's Bisballe named GLIAC women's basketball players of the week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Wayne State junior forward Shea Tripp has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week and Grand Valley State junior forward Rylie Bisballe received GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following Week 5 of the 2023-24 women's basketball season. 


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Shea Tripp, Wayne State

Shea Tripp turned in a pair of impressive offensive performances at Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech to open GLIAC play. In the first league game of the season at NMU this past Thursday, Tripp totaled 26 points on 9-of-17 shooting, including 4-of-7 on three pointers. The junior also dished out three assists and recovered seven rebounds against the Wildcats. During Wayne State's first conference win of the campaign at MTU, Tripp registered a second 20+-point game with another 26-point effort at MTU this past Saturday. She also collected 11 total rebounds to notch WSU's second double-double of the campaign, along with two assists and three steals in 35 minutes. The consecutive 20+-outings by Tripp during the pair of road games was the first back-to-back 20-point contests since February 4 and February 9, 2023, when Tripp scored 25 at Northern Michigan and 27 at Ferris State.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State

Rylie Bisballe has been named the GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week in the opening weekend of conference play. In the Lakers 66-44 win over Davenport on Friday night, Bisballe tallied a near double-double, scoring nine points and grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds. She also blocked two shots and played a key role in holding the Panthers to just 36.5% shooting from the field. This season, Bisballe leads the team with 60 rebounds, 8.6 a game, 11 blocks, and is averaging 8.6 points this season.
