FSU's Idoni and GVSU's Bisballe claim GLIAC women's basketball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Ferris State senior forward Chloe Idoni has been recognized with GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week accolades, while Grand Valley State junior forward Rylie Bisballe secured GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following Week 16 of the 2023-24 women's basketball season.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Chloe Idoni, Ferris State

Ferris State University senior standout Chloe Idoni had a huge week for the 13th-ranked Bulldogs, leading FSU to a pair of home wins to close out the regular-season while pouring in 33 points per game. Idoni finished the weekend with 66 points to go with nine rebounds, three steals and two assists. She notched a game-high 33 points with five board, an assist and a steal in Thursday?s 91-78 triumph over Parkside before coming back with another 33 points along with four rebounds, two steals and an assist in Saturday?s 81-65 senior day win over Purdue Northwest. Idoni shot 65.8% from the floor for the week and went four-of-seven (57.1%) from behind the three-point line along with 12-of-15 (80%) at the free throw stripe, helping FSU finish regular-season play with a 21-4 overall record.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Rylie Bisballe, Grand Valley State

For the fourth time this season Rylie Bisballe has been named GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week. Bisballe averaged 22.5 points, 8.5 rebounds, and added seven steals and two blocks. She scored a career-high 28 points in the overtime victory over Northern Michigan. At the end of the third quarter, she buried a three-pointer that put her over 1,000 points for her career. The win helped the Lakers clinch the regular season GLIAC title for the third consecutive season. In the season finale on Saturday, Bisballe scored 17 points and had nine boards, as she recorded five steals and a block in the win over Michigan Tech. In league play, Bisballe is averaging 16.2 points and 7.2 rebounds, ranking fourth in the conference in each category.
