GVSU's DeLong and FSU's Eldred receive golfer of the week accolades

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly men's and women's golf awards. Grand Valley State redshirt freshman Charles DeLong claimed top honors for the men, while sophomore Alayna Eldred was the women's golfer of the week.


MEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Charles DeLong - Grand Valley State

Charles Delong (Dewitt, Mich.) closed out the Fall portion of the season winning the Motor City Invite in Dearborn, Mich. carding nine-under par (135). DeLong notched 11 birdies throughout the 36-hole tournament scoring three strokes under the second place athlete from Georgia Southwestern. DeLong won two-tournament this Fall, with his first win at the Arendsen Invitational on Sept. 6, carding six-under par (207).

WOMEN'S GOLFER OF THE WEEK: Alayna Eldred - Ferris State

Ferris State University's Alayna Eldred (Osakis, Minn.) earned runner-up honors at the Tiffin Fall Invitational, which wrapped up on Tuesday at the Mohawk Golf and Country Club in Tiffin, Ohio. Eldred compiled a 158 total for the 36 holes, including shooting a 77 over the final 18 holes after opening the event with an 81 on Monday. Her performance on the par 72 course helped the Bulldogs place tied for fifth overall in the team standings. Eldred placed among the top 15 golfers for the third time in four tournaments to date this fall.
