GVSU Sweeps First Lacrosse Weekly Honors of 2016

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the first GLIAC Lacrosse Player of the Week awards. It was a Grand Valley sweep in week one with sophomore Meghan Datema earning GLIAC offensive Athlete of the Week honors, while her fellow GVSU teammate goaltender Sarah Zwilsky earned Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades.

Highlights: Datema was huge in GVSU's win against Florida Southern. Contributing two goals, five draw controls and one ground ball. In the next two games, against the #1 and #3 teams in the county, Datema helped control the midfield with three goals, one assist, seven draw controls and two ground balls.

Highlights: Zwilsky made 22 saves in Grand Valley's three games, all against top 10 competition. She stepped up and made four huge saves in the second half in GVSU's victory against Florida Southern. In addition, she made seven big stops against the fire power of Adelphi and nine against Lindenwood.
