GVSU's Skomial, Walsh's Faus Earn GLIAC Lacrosse Weekly Honors

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced the third GLIAC Lacrosse Player of the Week awards for the 2016 season. Grand Valley State's forward Ryan Skomial earned GLIAC Offensive Athlete of the Week honors, while Walsh freshman Mikaela Faus earned GLIAC Defensive Athlete of the Week accolades competing in her first ever collegiate game.

Highlights: Grand Valley State junior Ryan Skomial had 3G/3A (on 3 shots) in GVSU's win against No. 18 ranked Bentley. She was key in converting on free positions, controlling their offense and redefend. Against No. 2 LeMoyne, Skomial had 3G/2A (on 4 shots). She was involved in three of GVSU's six goals, which closed the gap. Skomial's effort on the field this week helped Grand Valley to a victory over Bentley, and help mount a comeback against LeMoyne.

Highlights: In Faus's first collegiate game, the freshman goalie put up a huge save percentage of 68%. She had 13 saves in the Cavaliers first win of the season. To go along with her saves, Faus picked up two ground balls while causing five turnovers.
