Michigan Tech & Ferris State to Receive National TV Exposure

BIG RAPIDS, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) football matchup on October 24, 2015 between Michigan Tech and Ferris State has been chosen for a live national television broadcast.

The Bulldogs will host the tilt against the Huskies and can be viewed across the country by the American Sports Network (ASN) in partnership with the NCAA. The game will officially kickoff at 12:04 p.m. (ET) and will be part of an 11-week Division II Football Showcase this fall.

"The broadcast provides a stage to feature two of our marquee programs in Michigan Tech and Ferris State after both teams participated in the NCAA postseason last year," said GLIAC Commissioner Dell Robinson. "This opportunity also provides a platform to showcase the competitiveness of the GLIAC as one of the top conferences in Division II."

"I want to thank the NCAA, our GLIAC front office and the American Sports Network for this opportunity as we are thrilled this game has been selected to be televised nationally," said FSU Athletics Director Perk Weisenburger. "This TV opportunity will showcase a key game in the GLIAC between two outstanding programs and as the home team it will certainly provide Ferris State University with tremendous exposure for our football program and athletics department, but also for our campus and the Big Rapids community as well.

ASN has presently reached agreements to distribute its broadcasts to various regional cable networks that will make it potentially available in 94 million of the nation's 113 million TV homes.

While not all of ASN's broadcasts will clear in every market, its potential reach is substantial considering ESPN, the unrivaled king of TV sports, also reaches about 94 million homes. ASN offers the ability to reach more potential viewers than either Fox Sports 1 (85 million) or Fox Sports 2 (46 million).

In addition to the national television exposure, the game will also be streamed live online, free of charge, at NCAA.com. It will be packaged for distribution to all Sinclair Broadcast affiliates and all Regional Sports Networks across the nation.

As part of its broadcast platform, ASN televises live games from multiple NCAA college sports conferences, provides analysis from the game's top experts, delves into the human side of competition and shows the best of today's student-athletes.

ASN, which is operated by Sinclair Broadcast Group, is composed of 162 Sinclair-owned and operated television stations nationwide with 376 channels in 79 markets which combine to reach approximately 43 million households nationwide. ASN also has developed an affiliate network of regional sports networks to increase the per-game potential distribution to more than 60 million households on average. The company, which launched in 2014, produced 250 college events in nine sports and plans to air more than 375 events in 2015-16.

Sinclair Broadcast Group, Inc. is the largest and one of the most diversified television broadcasting companies in the country with 162 television stations, airing 376 channels in 79 markets, and with affiliations with all the major networks. The Company regularly uses its website as a key source of Company information which can be accessed at www.sbgi.net.
