MIDLAND, MICH. -- The Northwood University football team will once again be teaming up with Saginaw Valley State University in conjunction with the annual Axe Bowl game to raise funds for Cancer Awareness.

The teams will be holding a "Game to Remember" this week, where fans and the community have the opportunity to donate $5 and they will be given a pink helmet decal, on which they can write the name of a cancer survivor or victim. Every Northwood player will wear a decal during Saturday's contest against the Cardinals.

These helmet decals will be sold on campus throughout the week. They can also be purchased at "The Den" tailgate, starting at 10 a.m. in the Bennett Sports Center parking lot and just inside Hantz Stadium on Saturday.

All donations will go to benefit the MidMichigan - Midland Cancer Fund and will be donated in remembrance of Pat Riepma, the longtime Head Football Coach and Athletic Director at Northwood University, who lost his battle with cancer earlier this year.

The fund helps local cancer patients off-set the costs associated with their treatments. It's used to help the patients with transportation and lodging costs as well as the costs for ancillary medical supplies, including: wigs, scarfs and other head wear.
