GVSU's Grazulis and FSU's Olayinka earn GLIAC men's basketball players of the week recognition

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Grand Valley State senior forward Marius Grazulis has been honored as GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, while Ferris State graduate senior forward Dolapo Olayinka was selected as GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week following Week 16 of the 2023-24 men's basketball season.


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Marius Grazulis, Grand Valley State

Marius Grazulis has been named the GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week for the first time this season. Grazulis notched his fifth double-double of the season scoring 22 points and grabbing 10 rebounds to help the Lakers defeat Northern Michigan on the road in double overtime. He also dished out four assists in the win in Marquette. Grazulis tied a career high 24 points on 8-10 shooting and went 8-10 from the free throw line to help the Lakers defeat Michigan Tech on the road. He grabbed five rebounds and blocked two shots. The Lakers finished the regular season on a four-game winning streak and clinched the four-seed in the GLIAC Tournament. GVSU will host Michigan Tech in the GLIAC quarterfinal round on Wednesday, March 6 at 8 p.m.


DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Dolapo Olayinka, Ferris State

Ferris State University senior forward Dolapo Olayinka had a big finish to the regular-season for the Bulldogs as FSU secured a GLIAC Tournament home contest and closed with a 22-7 overall record following back-to-back home wins over Parkside and Purdue Northwest. Olayinka notched 14.5 points along with a team-high 9.0 rebounds in the two wins, finishing with 29 points, 18 rebounds, six assists, two blocks and a steal overall. He posted a team-high 21 points with nine boards, two assists, a steal and a block in Thursday?s 82-79 win over Parkside before coming back with eight points, nine boards, four assists and a block on Saturday in FSU?s decisive 85-64 triumph over Purdue Northwest. Olayinka shot 50% from the floor and provided a strong defensive presence both on the floor and on the glass in the weekend of action.
