Field Announced for GLIAC Men's Basketball Tournament

TOURNAMENT CENTRAL

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) released the bracket for the 2024 men's basketball tournament Saturday, following the completion of the regular season schedule.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on Wednesday, March 6 with four quarterfinal games at campus sites.

Northern Michigan (21-9, 14-4 GLIAC) won the GLIAC regular title, earning the No. 1 seed for the conference tournament. The Wildcats will host eighth-seeded Purdue Northwest (13-15, 7-11 GLIAC) in Marquette at 7:30 p.m.

Lake Superior State (21-7, 13-5 GLIAC) is the No. 2 seed for the tournament. The Lakers are set to face No. 7 seed Wayne State (13-14, 7-11 GLIAC) in Sault Ste Marie at 7 p.m. The Warriors used a buzzer beater against Saginaw Valley State on Saturday to secure a bid to the conference postseason event.

Third-seeded Ferris State (22-7, 12-6 GLIAC) will open tournament play at home (7:30 p.m.) in Big Rapids versus No. 6 Parkside (13-15, 8-10 GLIAC). The Bulldogs swept the Rangers in the regular season but both games were decided by four points or less.

Grand Valley State (14-14, 11-7 GLIAC) enters the tournament on a four-game win streak, earning consecutive victories over the top three teams in the GLIAC during that stretch. The No. 4 Lakers will meet No. 5 Michigan Tech (11-16, 8-10 GLIAC) at 8 p.m. in Allendale. The Huskies are led by the GLIAC's leading scorer, Marcus Tomashek (22.5 ppg).

The highest remaining seed following the quarterfinals will host the semifinals and the championship games on March 9 and 10, respectively.
