FSU's Erickson and SVSU's Taylor awarded GLIAC men's basketball player of the week honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced that Ferris State junior guard Ethan Erickson has been named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week while Saginaw Valley State redshirt sophomore forward Kevonne Taylor was awarded GLIAC Defensive Player of the Week honors following Week 7 of the 2023-24 men's basketball season.

OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Ethan Erickson, Ferris State

Ferris State University junior guard Ethan Erickson had a pair of big games for the nationally 17th-ranked Bulldogs as FSU returned from the holiday break for two dominating home wins. Erickson averaged 25.5 points per game for the Bulldogs, totaling 51 points on 50% (16-32) shooting while adding five rebounds, three steals and two assists in only 42 total minutes of action. Erickson dropped in a game and personal career-high 36 points on Saturday (Dec. 30) in a. 111-44 win over Kuyper, which included a school-record 11 made three-pointers for the Bulldogs. He also had a team-high tying 15 points in Friday's (Dec. 29) 100-48 win over Fanshawe (Ontario). Erickson's 16-of-32 showing for the two-game stretch was all behind the three-point line as he made five threes in the win over Fanshawe before his school record 11 against Kuyper. He also went 3-of-3(100%) at the free throw stripe for the weekend, helping FSU improve to 11-2 on the year.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Kevonne Taylor, Saginaw Valley State

Saginaw Valley State redshirt sophomore forward Kevonne Taylor was a menace down low on defense, as he tied a career-high in blocks with seven in the Cardinals' win over McMaster. He tops the GLIAC with his season total of 20 blocks. In the 91-75 win over the Marauders, Taylor finished four rebounds and three blocks short of a triple-double.
