NEW ORLEANS, La. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association has named Nicole Sreenan as the Division II Women's National Athlete of the Week. Sreenan posted a dominant performance at the GVSU Mike Lints Alumni Open on Saturday, Jan. 23 that included an automatic and a provisional mark.
The Laker senior broke the GVSU record in the 400m – that she previously broke last February – with a 53.47 finish. In the 200m, Sreenan picked up a provisional qualification with a 24.01 first-place dash. Both times, along with a 60m finish of 7.51 seconds, landed Sreenan at the top of the leaderboard in all of Division II. This is the first time in her career that Sreenan has earned the USTFCCCA National weekly honor.
GVSU returns to action on Friday, Jan. 29 at 2 p.m. in the Bill Clinger Classic at home.
