BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the final weekend of the regular season. Ferris State junior outside hitter Ayanna Buckley earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors, while Ashland senior outside hitter Alli Cudworth captured South Division accolades for the second time this season.
NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Ayanna Buckley, Ferris State
Ferris State junior outside hitter Ayanna Buckley had a big week for the Bulldogs as she posted a team-leading .451 attack percentage to help FSU close out the regular-season with convincing home wins over Hillsdale and Northwood. The junior hitter tallied 29 kills and averaged 4.14 kills per set as FSU stretched its win streak to 21 consecutive matches. She had 19 kills and two blocks in the Bulldogs' 3-1 triumph over Hillsdale on Friday night that clinched the outright GLIAC Championhip. She then came back to notch 10 kills with four digs and three blocks in a 3-0 sweep over Northwood on Saturday as FSU avenged its only regular-season conference loss. Buckley compiled 4.6 points per set to lead the Bulldogs and totaled six digs and five blocks. She had only three attack errrors in each match and hit .500 against Hillsdale along with .368 in the win over Hilllsdale.
SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Alli Cudworth, Ashland
Ashland senior outside hitter Alli Cudworth recorded double-digit kills in all three matches in the week. Overall, Cudworth amassed 3.18 kills per set to go with a .241 hit percentage in conference play. Cudworth also collected 2.27 digs per set and 1.27 blocks per set. She totaled 35 kills, 12 service aces, 25 digs, and 14 total blocks
