GLIAC Volleyball Players of the Week - Week 9

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following the ninth weekend of the regular season. Saginaw Valley State senior middle hitter Kaylee Schmitt earned GLIAC Volleyball North Division honors for the second time this season, while Findlay senior outside hitter Hannah Tong captured South Division accolades also for the second time this year.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Kaylee Schmitt, Saginaw Valley

Saginaw Valley State senior middle hitter Kaylee Schmitt led the Cardinals to a pair of victories over the weekend, as SVSU ran its winning streak to a program best nine matches. Schmitt posted a .325 hitting percentage with 17 kills, five blocks and four digs in a 3-1 win at Hillsdale on Friday. She then hit .444 with 13 kills, four blocks and three digs and a pair of aces in Saturday's 3-1 win at Northwood. She averaged 3.75 kills/set and 1.13 blocks/set in the victories. 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Hannah Tong, Findlay

Findlay senior outside hitter Hannah Tong led the Oilers to a 1-1 record on the road last week by accumulating 46 kills while hitting .481. Tong smashed a season-high 29 kills in the Oilers 3-2 loss at Lake Erie on Oct. 28 and then followed with 17 more in Findlay's 3-0 win at Ohio Dominican on Oct. 29. Tong's 29 kills against the Storm is the fourth highest single match total in school history.
