TIFFIN, Ohio -- Shauna Hurles has been named Head Volleyball Coach at Tiffin University.

Hurles recently completed her second season as an assistant coach with the Dragons. She takes over after the departure of Dana Cordova, who coached the Dragons from 2010-16. Working closely with Cordova last season, the Dragons enjoyed their best season in 10 years, finishing 19-12, 9-8 in the GLIAC. It was the most wins TU has enjoyed since becoming a Division II member.

"I am excited for the opportunity to continue working with the team," said Hurles. "They have been working very hard this spring, and we want to continue that straight into the fall. I am excited about the upcoming season. We have some talented freshmen coming in to joing the team, and our goal is to get to the GLIAC tourney, which we fell one game short of last season."

"I am excited to have Shauna join the Dragons family as the head coach," said Athletic Director Lonny Allen. "She has impressed all as an assistant coach and we look forward to her leading our program as the head coach. We are confident that our volleyball program will continue on the rise. Shauna is a great coach who will make an immediate impact on our program and Tiffin University."

Hurles joins the Dragons after four years of coaching at Wynford High School, two seasons as the junior varsity head coach and two as the varsity head coach. Hurles also taught Special Education while at Wynford.

Shauna played college volleyball at Bluffton University. Her outstanding career includes conference accolades, numerous school records, a conference championship, and a conference tournament championship. Shauna was the starting setter for the Beavers from 2007-2010. Her leadership and performance on the floor led Bluffton to its first HCAC regular season and tournament championship in 2009. Hurles was not done though. Her play helped the Beavers make their first NCAA Tournament appearance the same season. Her play earned her numerous accolades, including 1st team HCAC in 2008, 2009, and 2010. Shauna was selected as Bluffton's first HCAC MVP in 2009.

Shauna's accomplishments fill the Bluffton record book. She holds the 2nd, 3rd, and 5th rank for all-time assists per set in a season, and sits 4th, 7th, and 14th all-time for assists per season. She is the all-time leader in assists per set in a career with 8.93 assists per set, and Shauna is 2nd all-time in career assists with 3,695.

Shauna graduated from Bluffton University with a degree in Education, with a focus as an Intervention Specialist. She also holds a Master's Degree in Higher Education Administration. Shauna and her husband Michael reside in Bucyrus, Ohio.
