GLIAC Baseball Athletes of the Week - Week 5

BAY CITY, Mich. -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its fifth weekly baseball awards for the 2016 season. Northwood junior Brogan Fischer captured GLIAC North Division Pitcher of the Week honors, while Wayne State sophomore infielder Brad Baldwin collected GLIAC North Division Player of the Week accolades. In the South Division, Ashland junior Brandyn Sittinger garnered GLIAC Pitcher of the Week awards along with Malone junior Keanan Locke who was named GLIAC Player of the Week.

Pitcher of the Week - North Division
Brogan Fischer Northwood Pitcher Jr.

Highlights: Northwood junior pitcher Brogan Fischer allowed three hits in 6 1/3 innings of work in Northwood's 2-0 road win over Findlay Saturday afternoon. He struck out five while earning his first win at Northwood.

Pitcher of the Week - South Division
Brandyn Sittinger Ashland Pitcher Jr.

Highlights: Ashland junior pitcher Brandyn Sittinger threw a one-hit shutout with 12 strikeouts at home on Saturday in Game 1 vs. Ohio Dominican. Sittinger compiled a no-hitter through 5 2/3 innings.

Player of the Week - North Division

Brad Baldwin Wayne State Infielder So.
Highlights: Wayne State sophomore infielder Brad Baldwin hit .500 during the weekend series with Hillsdale to help the Warriors earn a split with the Chargers. He drove in six runs, scored seven and drew five walks. He hit his first two home runs of the season on back-to-back at bats in game two on Friday. He finished with a .632 on-base percentage and a 1.143 slugging percentage. In game one on Saturday he collected two doubles to bring his GLIAC-leading total to 12.
Player of the Week - South Division
Keanan Locke Malone Outfielder Jr.
Highlights: Setting the table from his leadoff spot, Malone junior Keanan Locke hit .524 in five games going 11-for-21 at the plate. On the week, he scored seven runs, tallied seven RBI, and swiped a pair of bases. In a doubleheader sweep of Lake Erie on Saturday, Locke had a day to remember, going 7-for-8 at the dish, scoring five runs, driving in seven runs, and recording his first career grand slam. The junior centerfielder is currently 2nd in the GLIAC in average (.461) and 3rd in stolen bases (8).
