Parkside's Hau and Davenport's Hudson claim Week 12 men's basketball honors

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced player of the week awards for Week 12 of the 2018-19 men's basketball season. Parkside redshirt freshman forward Brandon Hau earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Davenport sophomore guard Avery Hudson was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Brandon Hau - Parkside

Redshirt freshman forward Brandon Hau helped lead the Rangers to big home wins over Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech by averaging 13.5 points and 7.0 rebounds a game and shooting 53.3 percent. Hau, who averages 8.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, compiled a season-high 11 rebounds during a 71-65 victory over Northern Michigan and season-high 20 points during an 82-74 win over Michigan Tech. Hau made 4-of-8 three-point attempts for the week for Parkside, which has now won six of its last seven games and seven straight at home.


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Avery Hudson - Davenport

Sophomore guard Avery Hudson turned in a remarkable performance on Friday night in a 92-72 win at No. 7 Ashland. He scored a career-high 32 points during DU's first win over a top-10 opponent since entering the GLIAC. He also became the first DU player in three years to score 32 points. Hudson went 10-of-14 from the floor, including 5-of-7 from the arc. He made 7-of-8 free-throw attempts to go with six rebounds and two assists in 37 minutes. Avery scored 12 points, going 7-of-7 at the line, during an 84-75 win at Wayne State on Saturday to pull DU into a first-place tie atop the GLIAC standings. For the week, Avery averaged 22 points, and shot 42.9 percent from the arc and 93.3 percent at the foul line. Hudson is second in the GLIAC with 61 three's and 116 assists this season.
