GVSU's Bursinger and CSP's McDole earn GLIAC weekly women's lacrosse awards

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced the ninth GLIAC Lacrosse Athlete of the Week awards for the 2022 season. Grand Valley State junior midfielder Molly Bursinger was selected Offensive Player of the Week while Concordia-St. Paul junior goalkeeper Candace McDole received Defensive Player of the Week recognition. 


OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Molly Bursinger, Grand Valley State

Junior midfielder Molly Bursinger (Powell, Ohio) earns her third player of the week honors after helping the Lakers to another conference win over the Davenport Panthers on Saturday. GVSU advanced to 15-1 on the season and 7-0 in the GLIAC after the 18-11 victory. Bursinger finished the day with five goals, two assists, and two ground balls, and has now scored 42 goals for the Lakers this season. Bursinger also won 11 draw controls on Saturday and is leading the GLIAC in draw controls this season with 96. 
 

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK - Candace McDole, Concordia-St. Paul

Candace McDole (Maple Ridge, B.C.) registered a season-high 14 saves, her sixth double-digit saves performance on the year while putting up a .583 save percentage for her sixth .500-plus save percentage mark of the year. The effort from the Maple Ridge, British Columbia native was vital in a 13-10 road win at Northern Michigan while facing 35 total shots in the cage. She compiled five saves in a busy first quarter, and made four saves each in the third and fourth to protect CSP's lead. Her lowest saves by quarter was one in the second which was produced in a quarter where CSP outscored NMU 5-1 to claim the lead, and the Golden Bears didn't trail the rest of the way.
