GVSU's Oliveira and SVSU's Stuart named GLIAC Tennis Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced its sixth weekly tennis awards for the 2022 campaign. Grand Valley State graduate student Tomas Oliveira was honored as men's player of the week, while Saginaw Valley State freshman Elizabeth Stuart earned the women's player of the week award. 


MEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Tomas Oliveira, Grand Valley State

Tomas Oliveira (Lisbon, Portugal) posted a 2-1 singles record with a 6-0, 6-3 win at the No. 1 position against Spring Hill College. Oliveira also claimed a 7-5, 6-1 win at No. 4 singles against West Florida.


WOMEN'S PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Elizabeth Stuart, Saginaw Valley State

Elizabeth Stuart (Medina, Ohio) was outstanding for the Cardinals last week in Florida winning all five of her completed matches. The freshman is the first Cardinal to win the award since Madeline Miller in 2017. Stuart was 2-0 in her doubles matches. She also won at No. 5 singles against St. Cloud State, and at No. 3 singles against Sioux Falls and Shippensburg.
