MTU's Monroe Named CCA 2nd Team All-America; GVSU's  Van Tubbergen earns Honorable Mention

 

Albany, NY--Senior forward Kyle Monroe from Michigan Tech was chosen as a 2020 Division II Conference Commissioners Association Second Team All-American, while Grand Valley State junior Jake Van Tubbergen was named All-America Honorable Mention. 

Monroe who was named CCA Midwest Region Region Player of the Year was also tabbed the 2019-20 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Player of the Year. Monroe was averaging 23.0 points, 6.9 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.4 steals per game.

Van Tubbergen, also earned first team All-Region honors from D2CCA as well as first team All-GLIAC honors for his outstanding junior season. His scoring average ranked fourth in the conference and he led the conference in both rebounding average and offensive rebounding average (2.60) while also ranking fifth in the conference in field goal percentage (54.1).
