LSSU Collins, SVSU's Belyeu Selected Men's Basketball Players of the Week

GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) has announced weekly awards following week 12 of the 2019-20 men's basketball season. Lake Superior State senior forward Ke'Montrece Collins earned GLIAC Men's Basketball North Division Player of the Week honors, while Saginaw Valley State sophomore guard Myles Belyeu was named GLIAC South Division Player of the Week.


NORTH PLAYER OF THE WEEKKe'Montrece Collins - Lake Superior State

Senior forward Ke’Montrece Collins has been named the GLIAC North Division Player of the Week for the second time this season after leading the Lakers to a weekend split on the road against Wayne State and Ashland. Collins averaged 17 points in the pair of games and led the Lakers in scoring in both games. Collins recorded 16 points in Thursday’s 74-73 win over Wayne State while also adding a team-leading eight rebounds. The Criminal Justice major would add 18 points against Ashland on Saturday in the team’s 81-66 loss. This season, Collins leads the Lakers in scoring as he averages 15.2 points per game, which ranks ninth among all GLIAC players.

 


SOUTH PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Myles Belyeu - Saginaw Valley State 

 Sophomore guard Myles Belyeu averaged a double-double in leading the Cardinals to a pair of victories over Northern Michigan and Michigan Tech. He posted 25 points and matched a career-high with 13 rebounds in Thursday's 68-63 win over Northern Michigan. He followed that up with another 25 points on Saturday, adding seven boards with two steals and an assist in the team's 73-69 victory over Michigan Tech.
