GLIAC -- The Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) announced its 2022 All-GLIAC Women's Tennis Team on Friday prior to the opening matches of the conference tournament at the Midland Tennis Center in Midland, Mich.

Wayne State's Anais Ruyssen received the 2022 GLIAC Player of the Year while Maddie Whip of Lake Superior State was selected GLIAC Freshman of the Year Award. The 2022 GLIAC Coach of the Year is Mike Rose of regular season champion Northwood.

2022 GLIAC PLAYER OF THE YEAR
Anais Ruyssen, Wayne State
Wayne State University sophomore Anais Ruyssen (Nantes, France) was voted GLIAC Player of the Year after earning an impressive 7-1 record at the top singles spot in league play.  She is the first Warrior to be named the top player in the league since Andreea Mitrache won the award in 2015, and the fourth overall joining Sharon Gill (2010) and Kristina Goranskaya (2011). Ruyssen was dominant in league play, as just one of her matches went to three sets.  In doubles, the duo of Ruyssen and Marta Komar were just as strong, as they posted a 6-1 record in the top spot of the lineup. Overall, Ruyssen is 13-5 in dual matches, with all of those wins coming at the No. 1 spot. Ruyssen and Komar have combined for a 15-4 doubles mark with 14 of the wins coming from the top flight.

2022 GLIAC FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR
Maddie Whip, Lake Superior State
Maddie Whip has put together a strong first collegiate season for the Lakers as she heads into her first GLIAC postseason. The Sydney, Australia native holds an 8-9 record in doubles competition and has played the majority of the season on the team's second doubles. In singles play, Whip has totaled a 10-3 record. The mechanical engineering major began the season playing in the No. 4 and No. 5 spots in singles play for the Lakers before moving into the No. 2 spot for the start of conference season. In the No. 2 singles spot, Whip has totaled a 5-2 record with all seven matches coming against GLIAC competition.

2022 GLIAC COACH OF THE YEAR
Mike Rose, Northwood
Mike Rose is the second coach in Northwood University tennis history to earn GLIAC Coach of the Year honors, joining Zane Colestock. Now in his second year as head coach of both the men’s and women’s tennis programs at Northwood, Rose led the women’s team to the GLIAC Championship and the No. 1 seed in the GLIAC Tournament.
