Davenport's Shrimpton Headlines 2017 D2CCA All-Midwest Region Men's Soccer Teams; Six GLIAC Standouts Honored

ASHLAND, Ohio – Davenport University junior forward Brogan Shrimpton has been named the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) Midwest Region Player of the Year, headlining a group of 26 players named to the All-Midwest Region teams. The D2CCA Player of the Year award and all-region teams are nominated and selected by the region's sports information directors.

Shrimpton was named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Offensive Player of the Year while leading the Panthers to the GLIAC Tournament championship in their first season in the league. He scored 19 goals in his junior campaign, which would tie for third in Division II. Davenport is in its second year in the NCAA Division II transition process, so the Panthers do not officially qualify for NCAA statistical rankings. Shrimpton won three GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week awards this season and scored twice in the Panthers' 3-1 win over Northwood in the GLIAC Tournament semifinal.

Joining Shrimpton on the D2CCA All-Midwest Region first team is teammate Stephen Carroll (B); Davis & Elkins' Friedrich Peter (B) and Pablo Salvador Lopez (MF); Findlay's Josh Burton (MF); Ohio Valley's Ignacio Diaz (B), Celso Riveros (F), Nicolas Rodriguez (MF), Carlos Rubio (GK) and Guillermo Segovia (F); and Rock Hurst's Kaleb Jackson (F), Adam Michel (MF) and Connor Mullen (B).

The All-Midwest Region second team is comprised of Bellarmine's Callum Southern (MF); Davis & Elkins' Rafa Moreno (F) and Tim Staerz (F); Findlay's Josh Dickinson (MF); Lewis' Nico Mueller (F); Missouri-St. Louis' Pat Ries (F); Northwood's James Vaughan (MF); Rockhurst's Luca Mastrantonio (B) and Filippo Santandrea (B); Saginaw Valley State's Connor Keane (GK), Connor Rutz (MF) and Omar Sinclair (B); and Southern Indiana's Drew Albert (B).

The 13 members of the All-Midwest Region first team will now be placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. The All-America teams will be released on Friday, Dec. 1. The complete All-Midwest region teams follow.
